“musiqus.org” started in early 2004. We’ve been looking for a way to spread our music without going the long way round printing a CD and the need to pay for all of that in advance (without knowing about ever earning the money back).
Whilst doing this it wasn’t our goal to question the music business itself ot its formats: It was more a matter of all the musical work that wouldn’t find its potential fans just because of established market mechanisms.
Looking back to that time we can say that we’ve been quite innovative with that idea – fortunately since then the situation changed drastically and today there are many possibilities to distribute ones music as free or paid downloads. Some of these distributors are being used by us now, too: I.e. the “Bandcamp” platform.
Our core task is to support our artists in their doing and to promote their work. This is happening mainly via this web site, via several social networks and simple contact sharing. Beyond that we produce, mix and mastermix our releases, design booklet artworks and program the web pages of the musicians and projects.
In late 2010 the web design and many functions of the web site were given a general overhaul. For the first time we also sell releases. But we abide by the old idea of free-of-charge promotion: We carry on offering all of our releases also as free versions.
The former non-profit-label developed towards a little but functioning service office caring for all matters of indepentent music promotion and music release marketing.
